Change Poem

Sometimes even though we are terribly unhappy the thought of change is terrifying.  The poem below by Imago Board member Ljilijana Bastaic captures both the difficulty and the opportunity in risking moving beyond the safe and familiar.

YOU and ME

We carry our chains everywhere

Feather light, or led heavy.

Our habits, our fears, our pride.

Lazing us

Binding us

Suffocating

Till there is no air in the space between us,

and the battle for survival starts.

YOU and ME

cornered and chained in the dark

On the end of our strengths

On the edge of our mind

With nothing to lose but US

We light the torch, our prison gets lit up

Looking, feeling, realizing

Our corners, our worlds differ so much

Yet the chains still connect us

YOU and ME

Shaken, broken, hears still bleeding

We follow the torch where it is leading

Without being much aware

There is a CHANGE in the air.
